FileSharing Assisant F.A.Q.
What is this?
This is an attempt to replace the missing FileSharing GUI in macOS Server 5.4 in High Sierra to get back the ability to list Connected Users and to disconnect users selected from this list.
Is it free?
Yup! Its free! Just my way of giving back to the community.
Is it an app?
It is a FileMaker database wrapped up as a FileMaker Runtime Solution so that you DO NOT need to own FileMaker to use it.
How does it work?
Various FileMaker scripts, AppleScripts, and shell scripts and cURLs are working behind the scenes to make it all happen.
Why do I need macOS Server?
Even though FileSharing is enabled via System Preferences in High Sierra and even though there is no FileSharing panel in macOS Server 5.4 anymore, this version of macOS Server still has the Command Line functions to administrate FileSharing that go all the way back to OS X Server!
Can I run it from a remote Mac?
No. Version 1.0 needs to live on your server.
Can I disconnect multiple clients at a time?
In version 1.0 you are limited to one disconnect at a time.
Does it work?
One report on the MacEnterprise mail list says so:
Do you provide 24/365 support for this?
Say what? Its FREE dude!
